New 911 System Set for Ohio County

WHEELING — Operators will soon be able to find those who dial 911 from a cellular phone in Ohio County — even if the caller is unable to describe their location.

During Tuesday’s meeting, Ohio County Commissioners approved a bid from Staley Communications of Wheeling for $420,040 to install an updated 911 system for the county that will enable those who call for help to be found in the event something goes wrong.

911 Director Theresa Russell said this is the next generation emergency services communications system.
