Ohio Valley Medical Center Focuses On Safety

WHEELING – In Ohio Valley Medical Center’s emergency room, five radios hang on the wall to pick up transmissions from emergency vehicles. Noisy and at times confusing, the radios will soon be replaced by a touch screen computer system.

The upgrade will be made possible by a $20,000 grant from the Department of Homeland Security, OVMC Corporate Safety and Security Director Brad Simms told the hospital’s Board of Directors after their regular, closed-door meeting Friday afternoon.

Most of the time comms are on the repeater; sometimes they operate simplex on 155.100 with 127.3 PL. They likely could operate simplex on the input as well I suppose.

STAT MedEvac: Largest medical helicopter service in Pennsylvania operates base at the Jefferson County Air Park

WINTERSVILLE – Many local residents may be surprised to know that STAT MedEvac, a medical helicopter service and the largest such program in Pennsylvania, operates a medical helicopter base at the Jefferson County Air Park.

“This helicopter is operational 24 hours a day, and can transport critically ill patients to any appropriate medical facility,” said STAT MedEvac spokesperson Dan Nakles. “We have a close working relationship with Jefferson County 911, local public safety departments and area hospitals.”
