?Brush? Fire - Columbiana Co (Clarks Mill Rd - Salineville)

Lots of activity today for what I believe is a brush fire. I caught the incident on the scanner in progress, so I’m unsure how long it has been going on. Irondale, Stratton, Bergholz, Salineville and possibly other Jefferson Co agencies are assisting. In Columbiana I’ve heard West Point, Fox Township, Salineville, Wellsville, Highlandtown and possibly others.

Jefferson Co units are on the Jeff Co 911 trunked system, and Columbiana Co radio traffic is on 151.22 (Highlandtown VFD repeater).

4:21 PM – Highlandtown reports fire contained, handling hot spots. Indicated rough terrain and large area affected.

158.1975 - unknown agency in Mahoning Co area

unknown agency – believed to be in Mahoning Co / Youngstown area

158.1975 PL 94.8 – narrowband repeater (unknown input, not FCC licensed)

Heard them talk about YPD going on a call to Brandywine Plaza. They reference themselves as “2″, “4″, “7″. Heard them once say “they’re coming towards you.”

Unsure what agency. Sounds like surveillance of some sort.

Allegheny Port Authority - Buses, etc

Port Authority of Allegheny Co (PAT) – Buses

453.300 / 458.500 repeater – 192.8 PL ( WNWW689 )
453.500 / 458.500 repeater – 192.8 PL ( WNWW689 )

Port Authority of Allegheny Co (PAT) – unsure of use

453.75 / 458.75 repeater – 192.8 PL ( WNWW689 )

I scan UHF constantly. Strangely enough I don’t ever remember landing on these frequencies before. But tonight they are coming in pretty well, or they are more active as usual and I’m just getting some hits.

Heard references to Arlington, South Side, Josephine, etc on 453.500. Just monitored dispatch talking to a bus having trouble with lights on 453.300. Heard activity on 453.75 but unsure of what they are doing. I figured I’d listen to them since there are multiple frequencies licensed under WNWW689 and I was hearing traffic on others.

Will continue to monitor.

463.25 - IDing with a ham callsign - imagine that :)

463.250 PL 162.2 IDing as “KF8YF repeater, PL 162.2″

I think this guy is a tech at a radio shop over in Hancock Co. That doesn’t explain why he’s got a repeater IDing with a ham call on a business frequency. Good grief.

This transmitter is so strong from my location that it can be heard without an antenna on the handheld and is full scale even with the attenuator turned on.
